I believe in fairies… well, I believe in getting kids out into the garden for sensory, imaginative and role play, for fresh air and to learn about nature. Creating a fairy garden with your child will do all this and more.
That’s why my sister and I started My Little Fairy Garden.
This was the first fairy herb garden I created with my then 18 month old daughter. It was great fun for her and she just loved getting in and dirty.
She also LOVES watering. It’s her favourite with her little “water can”. Often if she is having a bad day we go into the garden, get out the hose and watering cans and it calms her down.
This day was her first opportuntiy to look and play with our fairy products and she quickly chose favourites in the bucket, watering can, table and chairs.
At 18 months planting and creating a fairy garden was mostly a sensory experience, touching and smelling the different herbs, getting dirty and water fun, but 6 months on, with her own fairy garden outside her bedroom window, she is enjoying the imaginative side more.
She gets excited when new products arrive that she can place in her garden and has started role playing with the fairies and accessories too.
